Volunteering
The DC chapter of LSE Alumni and Friends will be sending a team of volunteers to participate in a community service project with the Hands On DC Work-a-Thon on Saturday, April 30th. Details:
Each spring at Hands On DC's annual Work-a-thon, over 2,000 Hands on DC volunteers from across Washington, DC spend one day working in approximately 30 DC public schools on basic improvement projects such as painting, cleaning, landscaping, and special projects like rehabilitating playgrounds and wiring classrooms for Internet access. The Work-a-thon this year will be held on Saturday, April 30th, 2011.
LSE alumni will be assigned to a school location that is metro accessible, most likely at a location a couple of blocks away from the Fort Totten Metro on the Yellow and Red lines. Volunteering will take place from 9:00 to 3:00 with a break for lunch. A party with volunteers from all project groups/sites will take place in the evening after the event.
