AFLSE Los Angeles: Upcoming Events
Dear Reader,
AFLSE LA is rounding out summer with a bang, so make sure you are there for it all!
For starters, the annual Bon Voyage Party is on Sunday, August 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Ye Olde King's Head in Santa Monica. We will be joined by Deputy David Wild from the British Consul General's office and Simon Gammell, the new British Council Director for the West Coast. There will also be representatives from Lloyd's International Banking department to assist students and alums with any banking needs. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to mix with other alums, pass on those pearls of wisdom to outgoing students, and meet reps from the British Consul General's office. This event is completely open so feel free to bring friends, spouses, significant others, etc. Get your tickets now!
After that, the monthly TIPS mixer is at the Station at the W Hotel on August 24th. This is a great place to connect with alums from other universities.
The month ends with another joint university mixer. This one is for all of you MBA and business-minded people. These events have stellar turnouts and are great opportunities to make new personal and professional contacts. This month, we are meeting at the pool deck of that old Hollywood staple, SkyBar. And we've got happy hour pricing for the mixer, so if you haven't been to SkyBar (or if you have and know how pricey drinks are!) this is the time to head on over!
For AFLSE, the fun doesn't end when the summer does! No, we are still going strong. On September 22 we have teamed up with the British American Business Council for a reception with British Consul-General Dame Barbara Hay at the British residence! Get your tickets very early for this exclusive event. Please check our website for the links. Also, the BABC has extended AFLSE members discounted pricing for this event. All the more reason to register for or renew your membership if it has expired.
Then on October 7 we have a special treat. Tom Girardi (the attorney who handled the case that inspired the Erin Brokovitch movie) and an LSE alum who is now Queen's Counsel have graciously agreed to give a talk at Loyola Law School. They will be discussing the BP Oil Spill. Don't miss this unique event.
Lastly, we are planning an event in Santa Barbara on October 8, so please save the date. Details will follow so keep checking the website for updates.
Phew! That's everything we have on schedule for the immediate future. We hope you are as excited about these events as we are. Also, if there is some type of event that you want to see or something you want to organize, please let us know and we'll get the word out. Our goal is to offer you events that you'll enjoy and give you a fun environment where you can connect with other LSE alums, so let us know what will get you off of your couch or out of your office to grab a drink with us!
Cheers,
Mansi & Elizabeth
