Thank you alum Matt Rosenberg for organising the November mixer in Silverlake. A good time was had by all.
CHANGING MONTHLY MIXER TO THIRD TUESDAY
Who is going to volunteer to arrange the next mixer? In the new year we will be changing our regular mixer night to the THIRD TUESDAY of every month. So all those who have asked for a different weeknight - here is your chance to step up and organise a mixer in your neighborhood. Please let us know which month you would like to be responsible for at la@aflse.org
Also as a new initiative for the new year, we thank the Body Shop, the British toiletries store, for donating some lovely bottles of perfume to our chapter. You can be the lucky recipient of some nice perfume when you volunteer, attend and/or make yourself useful to the chapter.
HOLIDAY EVENT
LSE alums are invited to join Columbia Business School, London Business School and other alum organisations for a holiday mixer at Hudson on Crescent Heights. The recession friendly ticket price includes appetizers (no host bar).

FAMILY FRIENDLY SANTA BRUNCH
As usual, your co-chair Elizabeth Botsford invites alums with children to her annual Santa Brunch, the Saturday before Christmas in Laurel Canyon. Admission by potluck - bring a dish of your favorite granny's ethnic specialty plus a bottle of booze.

FAMILY FRIENDLY PANTOMIME
In January we will be having our annual outing to the Mayflower Club's pantomime. This is a funny, musical, brightly-colored, interactive performance for all the family. The bar is open throughout. Eccles cakes and over stewed tea are available during the intermission. The Mayflower Club is a northern working man's club dropped into the deepest Valley, complete with photos on the wall of the Queen, smiling, circa 1974. A must see.
We will provide more details as they emerge.
FAMILY FRIENDLY CHESS TOURNAMENT
On Saturday February 20 at 10am, alums and the children in their lives are invited to join in a chess tournament at Wonderland Avenue Elementary School in Laurel Canyon (wonderlandschool.org). Also volunteers are needed to help out on the day. If you have any suitable prizes available for donation, we would be most grateful for any contribution.
