AFLSE DFW Metroplex : July 2009 Newsletter

July, 2009

Dear Reader,

It’s summer and many of us are engaged in vacations or family activities.  However, I’d like you to consider making the following three items a priority in your busy schedule…

First, our next Third Thursdays mixer is Thursday, July 16, 2009. As per the suggestion of alumnus Zach Eccleston, we have set the time for the event, 7pm-9pm. This gives everyone a little extra time to finish up work for the day and make the drive.  Remember, we have our own loft at The Londoner—inside, turn right, and up the stairs.  Full service for pub food and drinks are available.  We will continue in the fine tradition began last month of swapping stories and business cards, plotting to take over the Metroplex, and engaging The Londoner in its adequate supplies of adult beverages.  The Londoner Addison is located at 14930 Midway Road, one block south of Beltline.

Second, until THE END OF THIS MONTH, ALFSE chapters can receive special benefits and the UK government will match one-third of all donations made through The LSE Centennial Fund.  There are no donation minimums and the gift clubs have all been reduced to encourage wider participation.  It’s easy to make a donation over a secure website; and, the donations are tax deductible as The Centennial Fund is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charity.  We are very close to our fund raising goal for this fiscal year; and, I’m hoping that our Dallas-Ft. Worth alumni will take the lead and win the honor of putting the fund over the goal.  There are only 3 weeks left in this effort, so please click on “The LSE Annual Fund” button or go to www.aflse.org.  Thanks!

Finally, SAVE THE DATE!  At our Third Thursdays Mixer in August (7pm, August 20th), we’ll be seeing four new students off to the LSE and, potentially, a few more returning students.  This is a terrific opportunity to influence and encourage emerging brilliance!  Alumni are asked to attend in force and kick in $3 per person to cover costs (cake, decorations, etc.).  Please RSVP me as soon as possible so we can determine arrangements.  Expect additional bulletins on this one!
I look forward to meeting more of you!

Thanks,
Bill Blake, DFW AFLSE Chairman

Special thanks to alumni Zach Eccleston, Dr. Gordon Peterson, Dom Harwood, Mark & Matthew Caldwell, and Dr. James Soaring Eagle Vonda for their support!
