AFLSE Boston and Beyond: Something For Everyone!
Dear Reader,
July is a very busy month for AFLSE Boston.
We start on Wednesday 1 July with a Leadership Luncheon that features climate change and sustainability expert Dr. David Levy.
Next we welcome AFLSE Senior Lecturer Dr. N. Piers Ludlow on Wednesday 15 July. He will deliver "Finding Europe's Telephone Number: The Evolving Nature of Transatlantic Dialogue, 1945-1990", then open a lively discussion over a delicious 4-course meal.
If you don't have time for lunch, join alumni and friends for the Third Thursday Social on the 16th, at the Times Irish Pub.
Join us on Friday 17 July for the Bon Voyage Reception at the British Consulate-General. This annual event features a spectacular view, splendid company, and fabulous food.
New this year is the AFLSE Boston Family Picnic on Saturday the 18th. Join alumni, friends and family along the Charles River in Cambridge.
In New Haven, Connecticut, the Yale Center for British Art has two exhibitions this summer. "Paintings from the Reign of Victoria: The Royal Holloway Collection, London" runs through 26 July. "Dalou in England: Portraits of Womanhood, 1871-1879" looks at four works by the French sculptor Jules Dalou executed during his British period. It runs through 23 August.
Last but not least, UK matching grant contributions must be received on or before 31 July. This is a great opportunity to earn additional funds for the Chapter, so please contribute what you can. Remember: it is the number of contributors that counts towards the goal, not the size of the contribution.
