JUNE EVENTS

Dear Reader,

JUNE EVENTS

This Sunday afternoon we have a drinks mixer at Purple Feet Wine Bar in Dana Point, Orange County put together by alum Valerie Jaffee.  This is a joint event with Dartmouth alums.  Thank you so much Valerie for stepping up to spearhead our activities in Orange County.  Our previous drinks mixer at the same location was a roaring success and you will not want to miss this one.  Local politicos are lined up to address the group.  For more details, click on this link.

Join alumni from LSE and University of Chicago at Busbys East at 7pm in Mid Wilshire on June 18.  This will be a great opportunity to network so please mark your calendars!

The address is 5364 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles. 323-525-2615. We will be at the tables in the lounge at the top of the stairs. They have over 20 beers on tap.

Please RSVP at losangeles@aflse.org

JULY EVENTS

On July 9 a fundraiser will take place supporting the Smile Train, a charity providing free cleft lip surgery for children in India.  The tickets are only $40 each, reflecting our own recessionary times - this is an amazing deal for an evening of jazz, drinks, great appetizers, gift bag, silent auction and fun at an eco-art gallery in Venice.  Here is a link and we urge you to please support this event.

Save the date for July 30 when we will be at Northern Trust with a panel of Consul Generals discussing the Obama Revolution, with cheese and wine reception.  Details to follow.

RECAP OF LAST MONTH

Hot on the heels of our law symposium at Loyola Law School at which we were addressed by Dean Victor Gold on the topic of multicultural approaches to evidence law on May 30, last month saw our fabulous and fun mixer at Ye Olde Kings Head and our amazing reception at the Japanese Consul General's residence where we were honored by the presence of a member of parliament who had flown in from Tokyo and addressed us.  Consul General Ihara-san proved to be a charming host and provided a fascinating address.  Several very interesting questions about Japan were discussed in our Q and A session - ranging from gay marriage to the latest hi tech products.  Thank you so much to alum Tomoko Iwakawa for her help putting the event together.

Mansi and Elizabeth are deeply grateful for the support of increasing numbers of alums who are taking the initiative to organise events.  Please join us in helping to create a chapter that is relevant to you.  Would you like to arrange the next monthly drinks mixer?

Wishing you all a great summer and hoping to see you at the next event.

Mansi and Elizabeth
