AFLSE Events and News for Early 2007

The AFLSE Chapters and the LSE Foundation are launching 2007 with a great range of events for alumni in Chicago, Houston, New York, San Francisco and Washington, DC.  Do not miss the opprtunity to meet Chinese Ambassador to the US, Zhou Wenzhong, in Washington, DC;  Conor Gearty, distinguished LSE Professor of Human Rights Law, will speak and attend a reception in New York City, and a panel discussion on the Evolution of European Union-USA Relations is planned for Chicago.   In addition, happy hour/alumni mixers are scheduled for San Francisco, New York and Houston (see below).

	Howard Davies to be chair of judges for the Man Booker Prize for Fiction 2007 Sunday, 01/21/07 at 5:13pm The Director of LSE, Howard Davies, has been named the chair of judges for the 2007 Man Booker Prize for Fiction. The award is widely recognised as one of the world’s most significant and prestigious literary prizes.

	LSE to establish a Malaysia Room in its New Academic Building Thursday, 01/25/07 at 10:30am The honourable prime minister of Malaysia, Dato Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi, visited LSE on Tuesday 23 January to donate £50,000 toward the installation of a Malaysia Room at the LSE New Academic Building.
