News from LSE, benefits from AFLSE and an invitation from LSE at the AEA Conference

Dear Reader,

In our effort to bring you more timely news directly from the LSE, we are including two announcements recently made that confirm the current strength of the School and its ability to attract and retain outstanding academic stars. We are also delighted to report on a strong program developed by our Atlanta Chapter contrasting news reporting in the US and the UK.

If you are going to be at the American Economics Association annual meeting or you are in Chicago in early January 2007, please consider taking LSE up on its invitation to a reception at that event. It will be an opportunity to meet LSE faculty in the United States, something our members are always telling us is high on their priority list.   RSVP at the www.aflse.org.

On a more practical note, we wanted to alert you to a new membership benefit - access to a site, known as Member Perks or Corporate Perks. This site is also available to the employees of companies like Merrill Lynch, Price Waterhouse and JP Morgan Chase. Member Perks has literally thousands of price reductions at well known stores and web sites. These offers are controlled and are only available to members of affinity groups such as AFLSE.

The Board, the Office and all the volunteers at AFLSE take this opportunity to wish you and your family all the best during the winter solstice holidays

Regards.

Leon Desbrow
