Hope everyone enjoyed the fantastic weekend. We have a great reason for everyone to leave their homes this weekend and come celebrate Spring. We will be hosting another Pub Assessment on Saturday, May 2nd please see below for more details. Also please note that there is no Monday Happy Hour on May 4th because of the Nick Stern lecture. There are still a few spaces left for this event, so please sign up early so you don't miss it. For complete details and to sign up see the event listing below. Don't forget in May we will still be hosting the Third Thursday Happy Hour downtown as well as the annual pub quiz. Housing Request -
Hello NY LSE alumni! This is a slightly premature greeting, as I will not actually be joining the illustrious group until August.
I hope no one minds if I use the listserv as a sort-of Craigslist forum in the meantime.
As I started to mention, I will be moving to Brooklyn at the beginning of August. I am a first-year medical student at A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Mesa, AZ (I know, it's a mouthful!). Our program is a bit unique and very new, reflected in the fact that we split up as a class and spend three of our four years of school at different community health centers (CHC) around the country. Nine classmates and I will be relocating to the Sunset Park CHC, part of the Lutheran Healthcare System in Brooklyn. Although I know everyone coming with me and have a few potential housemates among them, a part of me thinks it might be a good idea to live with non-classmates, hence the reason for this e-mail. I wondered if anyone currently in the LSE alumni netowrk or soon-to-be member is interested in sharing accommodation. If so, please read below; if not, thanks for reading this far!
So, a bit about me. I am mostly from Texas, although I've lived in San Francisco, London, D.C., and Mesa since graduating from college in 2005. I did an M.Sc. in Health, Population, & Society at the LSE during the 2006-07 school year. I chose Brooklyn as my CHC partly because it was the closest to London I could get in the US! My schedule is likely to be quite busy, so ideally, I am looking for housemates who are also busy with either school or work. I will be 26in September, and would be happy to live with either males and/or females somewhere in that neighborhood. I've lived with a variety of people, so am pretty easy-going when it comes to shared space. I will say, however, that I like things to be clean and neat, and therefore hope that anyone sharing a space with me would respect that. I don't smoke and would prefer houesmates who don't either, or at the least would smoke outside of the house. Other than that I'm not too demanding, general courtesy and responsibility are enough! Serious matters aside, I do like to have a good time, which includes dinner parties and eating in general (I'm vegetarian), pub trivia and pubs/bars in general, hiking, dancing, festivals, exploring my environment, walks, travel, museums, movies, good conversation, free stuff, and more!
I'm hoping to live in Park Slope, preferably NOT in an apartment. As close to a house as possible would be ideal, and the older the better! In most cases I'd take a house with some character and history over a newly built one. I've had the most fun living with multiple people, so I'd say anywhere from two roommates and up would be great.
