IPE Lecture Series - Robert Vickers

We are pleased to invite you to the latest IPE lecture where Robert Vickers will present a lecture entitled: 


"US Policy towards Latin America: an intelligence perspective."

Location: Mortara Center for International Studies located at 1248 36th Street, NW Washington, DC, the corner of 36th and N Streets. The event is being held in the conference room on the main floor (it can been seen as you enter through the main door).

The event is co-sponsored by the Mortara Center at Georgetown University.

Robert D. Vickers Jr.:

Mr. Vickers joined the office of the Director of National Intelligence, Cuba Venezuela Mission Manager office as senior advisor in early 2006.


Mr. Vickers is a former member of CIA's Senior Intelligence Service who retired in early 2007. His final assignment was a two year tour as an Officer in residence at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology, where he taught courses on Intelligence and National Security. Mr. Vickers began his intelligence career in 1965 as an officer in the US Army, and his tour of duty included a year in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal.

He joined the CIA in 1969 as a strategic military analyst, and subsequently served as an editor and presenter of the President's Daily Brief. In 1984, Mr. Vickers was appointed as the National Intelligence Officer for Latin America on the National Intelligence Council, and he returned to the Council in 1996 as the National Intelligence Officer for Warning. He also served as Director of the Office of Imagery Analysis at CIA and Chief of the Imagery Analysis Group at the National Photographic Interpretation Center.

Mr. Vickers holds degrees in International Relations from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and from the London School of Economics and Political Science. he also attended the Armed Forces Joint Staff College in Norfolk and the Royal College of Defense Studies in London.
