Summer Events including Student Bon Voyage Parties

Dear Reader,

The AFLSE is pleased to announce a range of events being held across the country during June, July and August. These include: a discussion of Law and Counterterrorism in Washington, DC (sponsored by the LSE Foundation); a celebration of the 80th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II in Denver; a discussion with alumnus Thomas Mesereau, a defense attorney for Michael Jackson, in Los Angeles, Shakespeare in Houston, a pub quiz and Philharmonia in the Park in New York City, and happy hours in Atlanta and other cities.

Please support the Bon Voyage Parties for new students, which will begin with a garden party in Washington,DC on July, 22, and include a reception at the residence of HM Consul General in Los Angeles on August 16, together with other events in Atlanta, New York, Houston, with other chapters to follow. Alumni are urged to support these events where you can share your experiences of living and studying in London and students meet and network with those about to embark on the same adventure.

We are sad to announce the sudden death of AFLSE board member Daniel Weil. Dan was a tower of strength to our organization in Chicago over many years. His sponsorship of a very successful reception with the British Consul General earlier this year will now be remembered as his last major contribution to the AFLSE while he was alive. A condolence letter has been sent to his family.
