It's Happening in Boston: Join the Parties!

Dear Reader,

If you have not yet participated in one of the Boston Chapter events, you have already missed a great deal.

Don't let another opportunity pass you by!

There is a lot going on, starting tomorrow.

The LSE is offering a live web stream of a lecture by LSE alumni George Soros at noon on Wednesday 21 May. Mr. Soros will talk with LSE Director Howard Davies about his new book, The New Paradigm for Financial Markets. If you miss it you can catch up with this and other lectures from the LSE archive.

Charlie Beckett, recently appointed Director of LSE's new POLIS media think tank, will be joining us on Wednesday 28 May, from 6-8 pm. He'll talk about networked journalism, and his new book Super Media, followed by a lovely reception, all at the British Consulate. Come to the 15th floor at One Memorial Drive for a spectacular view of Boston and the Charles River - and fantastic food.

With all these thoughts racing in your mind, no doubt you'll be in need of some brain food to keep it up. This is readily available when you attend the Leadership Luncheon on Wednesday 5 June. You can get an update on our achievements in May, as well as meeting David Kopans, from Fat Spaniel, who will talk about clean tech. As you know, clean tech is one of the major initiatives Governor Patrick has launched, and he will be glad to hear your contributions, which will make there way to him, as have many of our other economic development suggestions.

Journalists are often a hard-drinking crowd, so you may want to invite some of the people you meet at the reception on the 28th to join you for Third Thursday, at the Times Irish Pub on Thursday 19 June. This networking event is open to all alumni and guests.

If you have an artistic bent, check out Rhythms of Modern Life - British Prints 1914-1939 at the Museum of Fine Arts through 1 June.

On the business side, the Massashusetts Export Center has an Export Open House in Fitchburg on 10 June, and an ITAR Bootcamp in Boston on 12 June. For those in healthcare, AFLSE members can attend the Mass Technology Leadership Council Healthcare IT Summit at the Mass TLC member rate.

Hope to see you soon! In the meantime, drop us a note with your ideas, suggestions, food allergies, or questions to boston@aflse.org
