AFLSE Boston: LSE's Charlie Beckett Comes to Town
Dear Reader,
We are delighted to announce a major new event, featuring LSE faculty member and director of POLIS, Charlie Beckett, who will be joining us on May 28, from 6-8, for a talk and reception at the British Consulate.
His new book, hot off the press, Super Media: Saving Journalism So It Can Save the World, is the first full-length study of the idea of Networked Journalism, a synthesis of traditional media values with new media public participation. In his remarks, Beckett will address the challenge of how the media is vital for a healthy democracy and yet in North American and Europe it is in crisis. It is losing money and losing trust. He will also offer a vision of how a revolution in journalism could rescue the news media and give it a new role in reporting everything from politics to sport.
Please register in advance for this event, as well as our upcoming Leadership Luncheon, where we will continue our economic development and other conversations, with some very special guests.
And don't forget the networking opportunity we all have on Third Thursdays, at the Times Irish Pub in Boston!
TIP: Log in first to have full access to AFLSE services. If you go straight to a link and receive an error, the most likely reason is that you need to log in first.
