San Francisco AFLSE Newsletter for Upcoming Events in April 2008

Dear Reader,

Hopefully by now, all of you will have received a paper and electronic invitation to the upcoming panel discussion featuring LSE International Relations faculty members to be held on March 26th (see article below for details on this event).  The LSE Foundation has worked very hard in putting together this wonderful forum, and your participation would be most welcome and appreciated.

*Please note that space is limited, and interested parties should respond by March 20th through the www.aflse.org website.

Thursday, April 17th:

A local alumna, Sandie Stringfellow, requested that I make you all aware of a wonderful opportunity.

She works at a non-profit called BUILD, whose mission is to provide real-world experience that empowers youth from under-resourced communities to excel in Education, lead their communities and succeed professionally.  These students are currently preparing for the Business Plan Competition, to be held at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business in May 2008.

Build needs judges to assess these business plans.  The judges will watch 4-5 brief team presentations.  After each, the judges will have the opportunity to ask direct questions of the team and will then score the presentation based on content, clarity and professionalism.

The event will be held at Menlo College, from 5:15pm - 7:00pm.

Dress code is business casual.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Sandie directly, at sstringfellow@build.org.

And lastly, I'd like to make you all aware of an addition to the leadership of this San Francisco Chapter.  Mr. Michael O'Leary will be assisting me in carrying out the duties of the Chapter Leader from now on.  Welcome, Michael!

Happy Spring!
