Proposed Houston LSE Alumni Event

Dear Reader,

This email is intended to gauge the level of interest for our chapter in a future proposed alumni event.

We are considering booking a suite at the Toyota Center for a weekend Houston Rockets basketball game in late 2016 or early 2017.  This could be an ideal way to connect with the LSE alumni community in Houston working across energy, consulting, and legal sectors.

Here are some details of the event:

  • Suite holding up to 60 people.

  • Food includes light bar snacks, mini-burgers, and Caesar salad (non-alcoholic drinks are included, alcoholic drinks are extra)

  • Friends and family over the age of 18 are all welcome.

  • The suite will have 26 seats facing the arena but a number of couches/chairs will be in the suite with TVs showing the game.

At this stage, we want to determine the amount of interest in our membership in this type of event – the cost of the suite is $7,000.00. This amount comes to around $175 per person, assuming we can get attendance to 40 persons. However, the suite holds up to 60 people. In order to book the event, we would need everyone who plans to attend commit to pay the fee in advance once we have determined that there are a sufficient amount of people.

So, we are not asking you to commit now. What we are asking is, does this type of event interest you?

We are committed to having a vibrant LSE alumni chapter in Houston and believe that this style of event could be a template going forward. Please respond with your interest by October 21st.

The event will be hosted by David Brown, MSc in International Political Economy.

If you have interest in or questions about this proposed event, please reply to houston@aflse.org.

Any questions, please contact Pat Kennedy, Houston Chapter at houston@aflse.org.
