AFLSE December Newsletter: Holiday Events, Giving to the LSE Foundation, etc.

Dear Reader,

Holiday events have been organized by AFLSE Chapters across the country including those in Atlanta, Los Angeles and San Francisco (see below).  Others are still in the planning stage, so keep checking the website.  In addition, the chief investment strategist for Merrill Lynch will be speaking in New York on December 5.

In the New Year, in early January, a reception for LSE faculty members and alumni will be held at the Annual Conference of the American Economics and Allied Social Sciences Association Meeting in New Orleans.  Also in January, New Yorkers are invited to a Spanish Wine Tasting, and Washington, DC alumni are alerted to the rescheduled talk on the Future of Turkey by alumnus, Marc Grossman, former Ambassador to Turkey.

The AFLSE is delighted to report that AFLSE members are four times more likely than other US alumni to donate to the LSE Foundation, now at the height of its annual fundraising drive.  Click on the link in the feature below to make an online contribution directly to the Foundation.  As evidence of the value of our contributions in supporting the School, the LSE was recently ranked the top university in London, and the third in the UK.

AFLSE Membership may expire for many of you at the end of the year so be sure to LOGIN to http://www.aflse.org and review your Membership status.  Be sure to join, or renew if you are not a member.  Also, check on all the benefits available, including the discounted auto, home and rental insurance available to AFLSE members (see below) to make sure you take advantage of all that the AFLSE has to offer.

Wishing everyone Happy Holidays and a Peaceful New Year
