LSE PROFESSOR ANNE APPLEBAUM IN CHICAGO - EVOLUTION OF REVOLUTION: LESSONS FROM THE EASTERN BLOC   On behalf of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the AFLSE Chicago is invited to attend a presentation, discussion and book signing by Phillipe Roman Professor of International History at the London School of Economics and Washington Post Columnist, Anne Applebaum, on Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 5:30pm, at the Hotel InterContinental on the Magnificent Mile, 505 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL.  

The Council is offering the membership admission rate ($10 instead of $20 for non-Council members) to LSE alumni.  Register online using the code name "Applebaum" to get the discount or register at the door and say you are with the London School of Economics.

BRITISH AMERICAN BUSINESS COUNCIL ENCHANTED BRITISH CHRISTMAS GALA  
On behalf of the British American Business Council of Chicago ("BABCC"), the AFLSE Chicago is invited to the Chicago Enchanted British Christmas Gala, Friday, December 14th, 2012 6:30-11:00pm, at the historic landmark, Cafe Brauer, 2021 N. Stockton, Chicago, IL.

This year’s Black Tie gala will feature an optional stroll through the famous Lincoln Park Holiday Zoo Lights before entering the reception, a sophisticated British menu fit for the Queen--inspired by Victorian culinary opulence--in Cafe Brauer's Great Hall, festive music by the Elaine Dame Jazz Quartet, and a live auction. Bill Kurtis, legendary television journalist, will host the evening’s festivities. 

Advance ticket purchase is strongly encouraged, and LSE alumni may attend at the BABCC member price of $299.

AFLSE CHICAGO HOLIDAY HAPPY HOUR  
The AFLSE Chicago will be gathering on Monday, December 17th, 2012 6:00 - 8:00pm for an informal holiday happy hour at BIN 36 wine bar in River North, 339 N. Dearborn, Chicago, IL.  Hors d'oeuvres will be provided.  Friends and colleagues are welcome!
