What:  Dinner and Program:  “The British Defeat of the Spanish Armada, 1588, Prelude to Imperial Expansion” by Anthony Reso, Ph.D.  Just how important was the defeat of the Spanish Armada?  At a meeting of the Houston Branch of the English-Speaking Union to be held at the Briar Club on September 27, 2012, Dr. Anthony Reso will propose that the British Defeat of the Spanish Armada, the major naval battle during the 20 year war between England and Spain, had a much greater impact on world history than has been previously appreciated.


Where: The Briar Club (corner Timmons and Alabama).

About the speaker:  Dr. Reso received BA and MA Degrees in Geology from Columbia University, and earned a Ph. D in Geology at Rice University.  He is a former President of the 4000-member Houston Geological Society and author of some 30 scientific publications.  For 25 years he was a Research Geologist at Tenneco Oil Co. Dr. Reso has been associated with Peak Production Co., an institution that determines the economic value of earth resources (petroleum, mineral, agricultural) for acquisition or divestiture.   Dr. Reso is a former President of the Houston Branch of the English-Speaking Union.
