Washington, DC: LONDON CONSENSUS Book Launch with LSE Professors Andres Velasco and Sir Tim Besley
.
We are delighted to announce that on the 21st of October, Andrés Velasco – the former Finance Minister of Chile and Dean of the LSE School of Public Policy – and Sir Tim Besley - W. Arthur Lewis Professor of Development Economics in the LSE Department of Economics – will discussing the new groundbreaking and provocative new volume THE LONDON CONSENSUS: Economic Principles for the 21st Century.
At a moment when governments are wrestling with climate shocks, rapid technological change, and rising political populism, the new volume offers a compelling alternative to the outdated “Washington Consensus”, which many economists and policymakers still treat as doctrine.
Why now? In an era of economic nationalism and political turbulence, THE LONDON CONSENSUS offers a roadmap for leaders to rethink globalization, renew social contracts, and pursue green growth without falling back on rigid formulas ill-suited to the times.
