This in-person event will take you on a journey through significant landmarks and sites that highlight the contributions of Black individuals to our city's history. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to celebrate and learn about Black history in Houston while getting some exercise.

This event is also in recognition of LSE’s Global Day of Volunteering and supports our collective efforts to bring attention to the importance of communities, mobility and connectivity!

This event is free, but please RSVP on the left to the AFLSE Houston Chapter.

Additional Description:  Our upcoming Black History Month Bike Ride through Houston's historic Third Ward will celebrate the rich African American cultural legacy of this vibrant community. The ride will take participants on a journey through significant landmarks, including the Houston Post Building, Emancipation Park, and the iconic Eldorado Ballroom, while highlighting the contributions of figures like Mack Hannah Jr. and Arnett Cobb. Stops will include sites like the Houston Negro Hospital and Cuney Homes, honoring pivotal moments in history such as Houston's first sit-in and the TSU Riot of 1967. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the powerful stories behind the Black Lives Matter street mural and Project Row Houses, while also visiting hubs of activism like the S.H.A.P.E. Center and People's Party II headquarters. This immersive experience will bring history to life, fostering a deeper appreciation for the enduring spirit of Third Ward and its lasting impact on Houston and beyond.
