DFW Metroplex AFLSE: Third Thursday Mixers and our first Organizational Meeting!
I am proud to announce our first Third Thursdays mixer at 6pm on June 18th at The Londoner in Addison. Third Thursdays will be held, as you already surmised, on the third Thursday of each month. There is NO charge for the event. Full service for drinks and pub food will be available in our private loft. This first mixer will also be our organizational meeting, so we'll break from socializing at 7pm to discuss our chapter goals: To conduct international economic and political forums, provoke discussion and exchange with local universities and institutions, work to secure the return of the British Consulate to Dallas-Ft. Worth (the 4th largest metropolitan area in the U.S.), facilitate economic and political education, sponsor endowment for the LSE, and serve as a network for alumni, students, and fellows. Not only will we network and socialize, we will make our mark on the Metroplex!
The Londoner Addison (not the downtown Dallas location) is located at 14930 Midway Road, one block south of Beltline Road. From I-635, exit at Midway Road, travel north 1.8 miles, it's on the right (corner of Midway & Belt Way). From the Dallas North Tollway, exit at Beltline, travel west 1.0 mile, turn left (south) on Midway, go one block, it's on the left (corner of Midway & Belt Way). From I-35E, exit at Beltline, travel east 4.2 miles, turn right (south) on Midway, it's on the left (corner of Midway & Belt Way). From President George Bush Turnpike, exit at Midway, travel south 4.8 miles, it's on the left (corner of Midway & Belt Way).
The Addison/North Dallas location gives us several routes in & out without having to fight traffic into any city center. Nonetheless, I realize that any one location represents longer travel for some our alumni. To be fair to all, I plan to hold future events at several locations around the area. Until I secure alternate locations, our Third Thursdays for June and July will be at The Londoner Addison. Please make the extra effort to attend the June meeting. If you haven't been to The Londoner Addison, expect a wave of nostalgia when you pull into the parking lot.
Mark your diary: 18 JUNE, 6pm, The Londoner Addison. If you have any questions or suggestions, always feel free to call me directly at 214/287-5207. I look forward to getting to know you all.
Bill Blake, Chairman, DFW Metroplex AFLSE
