Julie Hunter (2007)

Meet our 2007-8 AFLSE Scholarship Recipient

  Julie Hunter

Originally from Connecticut, Julie studied government and international relations at Harvard University. During her undergraduate studies, she pursued an interest in international development and human rights through academic work, research, and travel. In the summer of 2005, she worked with human rights organizations in Thailand and spent some time completing independent research in Rwanda.

Following a semester's study abroad in Paris, Julie interned in the State Department's Bureau of African Affairs and researched U.S. attitudes towards the International Criminal Court for her senior thesis. In addition to being involved in several political organizations on campus, she was also a member of the JV women's ice hockey team and the Bach Society Orchestra. Julie graduated magna cum laude in June 2007.

At LSE, Julie will be pursuing an MSc in International Relations. She hopes to build upon her foundational understanding of global politics with more regional and issue-specific studies. Upon graduation, she plans to work for a development organization in Latin America or Africa for several years, before eventually returning to school for a degree in international humanitarian law.
