Washington, DC: Cambridge Society Christmas Party
Cambridge Society of Washington DC extends a warm invitation to LSE alumni and friends for evening of carols, cocktails, canapes, and carvery.
Glad tidings, alumni of Washington! With the turning leaves and falling temperatures a testament to the changing of the seasons, our thoughts turn to this year’s Cambridge holiday party. The Cambridge Society of Washington, DC is delighted to announce that this year's Christmas celebration will take place at the prestigious University Club of Washington, DC. This year’s event, a cocktail reception with canapés and carvery, will be held on Saturday, December 6th 2014, commencing at 7:00pm.
The Cambridge in DC Christmas event has over the past several years become a wonderful way to kick-start the holiday season. Elegant and sophisticated affairs, they are reminiscent of collegiate Christmases past; of formality and joviality enjoyed in equal measure. A reminder that no matter how distant our recollections of Cambridge Christmases may be, when good company, lively discussion, and inspiring surrounds come together, these memories can be re-awakened and re-imagined.
Upon arrival at the University Club, start your evening with a cup of seasonal cheer and warm up around the Christmas tree. Move into the inspiring surrounds of the University Club Library to find your fellow alumni. As you greet friends, new and old, hors d’oeuvres will be served, followed by a festive carvery of roast turkey, cranberry sauce and fresh, crusty rolls. Tuck in and fill up at your leisure! Or for those who have had their fill of Thanksgiving turkey, try the pasta bar for something different. Something sweet to follow, served with tea and coffee. Festive entertainment will be sure to have us all in the Christmas spirit!
Carriages will be at 11:00pm. An after-party venue for those who wish to partake in more drinks and dancing will be confirmed in due course.
Ticket numbers are strictly limited and prices will rise as we near the event date, so early registration is recommended. In past years, the Christmas event has sold out well in advance. Partners, friends, roommates, relatives – all are welcome. Tickets are non-refundable. Ticket prices include food and welcome drink.
Dress Code: Cocktail attire*
*The University Club operates a strict dress code. After 6:00pm on weekdays, gentlemen are required to wear a jacket. Denim is not permitted at any time.
Steeped in history and tradition, the University Club has much in common with the Cambridge Society of Washington, DC. The University Club held its inaugural meeting at the Willard Hotel and boasts a similarly diverse membership, drawn from across the national and international communities. The Club, whose first elected President was then Secretary of War, William Howard Taft, operates according to the theme "Enter all of ye who have a degree of good fellowship and learning." With that in mind, members of the Cambridge Society will certainly feel most at home there this Christmas!
This is a Cambridge Society of Washington DC event.
