Washington, DC: Tartan Ball
St. Andrew’s Society of Washington DC has invited LSE alumni and friends to their Tartan Ball.
experience all the Scottish pageantry and tradition of this grand ball,
a high point of the Washington social season. Set in the Mayflower’s
Grand Ballroom and conjuring images of a more elegant era, this black
tie gala dinner-dance event boasts a guided single malt scotch tasting,
dazzling cocktails, Silent Auction, and fine cuisine served and
featuring the Pipes and Drums, and Highland Dancers, of the St. Andrew’s
Society. Attendance is open to all lovers of Scottish pageantry and
Dinner, Cocktails, and Dancing Tickets (7:00 PM to midnight): $175 ($165 early-bird tickets are available until 18 October 2013). Guests will enjoy an open luxury bar with Scottish single malt whisky, a three-course gourmet dinner, dancing, table seating, Scottish entertainments, and the opportunity to bid on items from the Silent Auction.
Cocktails and Dancing Tickets (9:00 PM to midnight); $89 (for younger Society members and guests): Guests will enjoy ascending to a private balcony within the ballroom, an open luxury balcony bar, Scottish entertainments, dancing, and the opportunity to bid on items from the Silent Auction.
Proceeds from the Tartan Ball, including those from the silent auction, benefit the St. Andrew’s Society’s own Washington Scots Charity & Education Fund, a 501(c) charitable arm of The Society, which has enabled students from both the United States and Scotland to further their academic pursuits.
