Houston: World Affairs Council Event

The World Affairs Council of Houston invites LSE alumni and friends to an event with LSE alumni Marvi Memon, a Former Member of Pakistani Parliament.

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011 with Registration at 6:00pm and the Program starting at 6:30 until 7:30 pm.

Marvi Memon graduated from the London School of Economics with a B.Sc (Econ) Honors in International Relations. She began her career as a banker at Citibank, Pakistan, where she specialized in Marketing and Quality Management. Memon left Citibank to launch Pakistan’s first satellite fleet tracking company, Trakker. She has advised the president of Pakistan on media issues, while maintaining close contact with youth and the discriminated populations of society in all provinces and territories of Pakistan.

Ms. Memon served in the National Assembly of Pakistan from March 2008 to June 2011. She resigned from her party and parliament sighting the corruption and incompetence in those around her and frustration with the system. She has recently launched a movement for rights and is galvanizing Pakistani’s to reject old politics and embrace clean politics.
