Samantha Parsons (2011)

Samantha Parsons is the recipient of the Alumni and Friends of the LSE in the US scholarship for 2010- 2011. Samantha will pursue a Master’s of Science in Environmental Policy and Regulation at the London School of Economics.

Samantha is currently a Fellow of the City Council of Berlin Foundation conducting a one year long empirical case study on Germany’s Renewable Energy Law of 2000 and what lessons the United States can learn from Germany’s experience with advanced feed-in-tariffs. She is currently taking Environmental Management courses at the Free University of Berlin. She is interning for Studium Forum Berlin, where she is helping write newsletters and organizing a seminar for 15 American Professors who are coming to Berlin to learn about its environmental and energy policies.

Samantha graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree from American University in International Relations with a focus on European economic policy. She wrote her honors thesis on the economic, social, and political differences that led the European Union to adopt the European Union’s Emissions Trading Scheme and several U.S. states to adopt the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. She has also completed internships with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton as a legislative intern, Wilfred Aspinall Brussels as a lobbying intern to the European Parliament’s environmental committee, Mazda North American Operations as a lobbying intern, and the German Marshall Fund as a climate change intern.
